We have noticed over the past few weeks some incorrect uniform creeping in. Please ensure your child has the CORRECT school uniform on every day. All school uniform can be purchased from the NZ Uniform Shop, 819 Heretaunga Street West in town. If you need support, please come in and talk with us.
We work hard to support you to get your tamariki to school every day. Our school's overall attendance for term 2 was 61% of our tamariki had regular attendance. We want to be better, the national target is 80% of tamariki will be present for more than 90% of the term by 2030. We know that all our tamariki love coming to school, if we need to support you in any way please reach out and let us know.
The table below outlines the categories of attendance and what that equates to over a term.
Where do your tamariki/ your tamaiti (child) sit? How can you find out? Pop in and talk with your child/ ren teacher.
Please follow our process of ringing, texting or emailing into the school office if your child is going to be absent from school.
Kei a koe te mana - you make the difference.
He mea nui te kura mō te tipu o tāu tamaiti - school’s important for your child’s growth.
The process for organising class lists and child placements for next year 2026 has begun. This is a very lengthy process with many factors that need to be considered.
If you have information that you would like us to consider BEFORE we begin this process please email Tania Henare (Tumuaki Tuarua/ Deputy Principal) thenare@frimley.school.nz before Friday 29th August 3pm. Please state what it is you wish us to consider and reasons for this. Please note that not all requests are possible, but we do our very best to work with you.
Staffing for 2026 does not get confirmed until the end of the year, so requesting teachers is NOT possible.
REMINDER all tamariki that are currently Year 1, Year 3 and Year 5 in 2025 will remain in their current classroom for 2026.
Voting for our School Board is now open. Keep an eye out for an email containing a link to take you to the voting page. Please also check your spam folder in case it doesn't come to your inbox. If we don't have an email address for you, you will be recieving a letter in the mail with a unique code to go online and vote.
Voting closes on Wednesday 10th September at 4pm.
Last week our staff spent Thursday evening and Friday at Houngarea Marae engaging in professional development. Our kaupapa (topics) included marae pūrākau/ whakapapa (stories/ histories), mahi tukutuku, Maths & Statistics Curriculum, Our Code/ Standards, waiata and more. Our staff work hard to continue to grow and develop to ensure they are providing the best possible teaching and learning programmes for your tamariki. Professional development for all staff is important, thank you for your support.
Safe Walking - Every year the students in Heretaunga Haukū nui learn about how to cross the road safely with Constable Chris. It is a wonderful education programme called ‘Safe Walking’. The children learn where they should stand when crossing a road, how to cross a road sensibly, and what hazards to look out for when crossing. We are looking forward to having two more visits this term from Constable Chris (weather dependent). It was wonderful to hear the children from last year remembering what they had learnt.
Our students are loving the new classroom resources the HHN teachers are making for their ‘play’. These activities are helping our tamariki practise skills and knowledge that they are learning in structured literacy, phonics, maths and Ngā ara Matauranga PLUS…. the tamariki are consolidating their learning in such a FUN way!
Art is integrated with our Ngā ara Matauranga (Place based curriculum). Here is the pictures of tuna (eels) in the awa.
The winter ills and chills are absolutely amoungst us. If your child is unwell, please keep them home and notify the office absentee answer phone: 878-8757 or txt in on the txt only cellphone: 027-351-9488. Please do this before 8.50am.
Keep them warm and give Pamol if feverish and plenty of fluids.
If you are concerned, contact your GP

With the cold weather PLEASE ensure your child is coming to school with their school jersey and appropriate footwear everyday.
If you are aware that we are still waiting on forms to be signed or any other documentation such as birth certificates and immunisations, please get these to the office ASAP. We are still waiting on some forms from 2024! Any borrowed uniform also needs to be returned.
