If you have a child or know of someone who has a child turning five next year, we strongly encourage you to enrol them now. It's really important we know so we can plan staffing and classrooms for next year please. You can either pop into our school office and fill in an enrolment form OR jump on our school website and download an enrolment form and send to: office@frimley.school.nz. At all times we are here to help if you need assistance.
A reminder that if you are enrolling in any school in NZ, you will need a copy of the child's birth certificate or passport (or a document with date of birth verification) and a copy of the child’s immunisation record. We will also need a document with your home address and name written on it. We can make copies of these documents at school.
The Board has reviewed numbers in each year group and currently has space for 30 out of zone students for new Entrants in 2026. If you would like to apply for one of these spaces, the forms need to be completed and with us by 17th October.
How do I apply and what is the process?
For out of zone enrolments in other year groups, please contact Rohan at school. From time to time space does become available in other year groups as children and families move in and out of the area. A priority at Frimley is to ensure families with connections to our kura can enrol their tamariki where possible.
We have a long standing relationship and connection with the hau kainga (home people) of Houngarea Marae. Our staff have had noho marae there and our tamariki have been visiting since 2019.
Over the past two weeks we have managed to get three of our Learning Communities to Houngarea Marae in Pakipaki - that is roughly 350 tamariki. Unfortunately the weather didn’t allow Heretaunga haaro o te kaahu to visit this time. They will aim to head to the marae next term. There is massive amount of mātauranga Māori that the tamariki learn about, pūrākau of the marae and hapū but our time there this term has been about our tamariki demonstrating one of our school values KAITIAKITANGA.
ALL tamariki from new entrants to year 6 were engaged in helping to care and look after our marae with the intention to “give back” and show manaaki. Being Kaitiaki of our marae had us clean the white fence and monuments, weed the gardens, pick up rubbish, clean the playground, clean the creek at the back and test the water, clean the wharekai and some of the whakairo and much more.
E mihi ana ki ngā hapū o Te Pakipakitanga o Hinetemoa ko Ngāti Ngarengare, Ngāti Papatuamarō, Ngāti Te Rehunga me Ngāti Tamaterā. Ānika a mātou mihi whakawhetai ki a koutou i o koutou manaaki ki a mātou i ngā wā katoa.
After postponing our original event a few weeks earlier we waited for some warmer weather to roll around. We were treated to a stunning day and the conditions were perfect for running. This year we moved our course slightly and Mr Pearse brought in some hay bales to jump over. This was an awesome bonus. We must thank our awesome whānau for coming along to support their children. There were a number of students who attended the Inter School event as well.
With over 500 tamariki at our kura, it is important that we all do our best to ensure we are driving safely to, from and past our kura. Please DO NOT stop at the crossing to let your child out of the car. THIS IS NOT SAFE! Please pull over into one of the many parks on the side of the road to safely let your child exit the car. Please e te whānau, help us to help your child remain safe!
This is a reminder that school hats are compulsary in term 4. The Frimley School hat is part of our uniform therefore no other hats are acceptable.
Please ensure your child has their hat with them on day 1 of term 4 and that it is clearly named.
If you need to purchase a hat, these are available in the school office for $12.
The tamariki of Heretaunga Haaro o te Kahu have been engaging with energy and enthusiasm across all curriculum this term. There has been a noticeable sense of pride in the way they approach their learning each day.A particular highlight has been our recent water safety programme at the local pools.Under the guidance of skilled instructors, the children have been introduced to valuable swimming skills and survival techniques.
These lessons have helped many tamariki to develop both confidence and competence in the water. It has been heartening to see the determination and resilience they have shown during these sessions. True rangatiratanga in action! We extend our sincere thanks to the Royston Trust for funding this initiative. Alongside this, much of our current classroom learning is connected to Ngā Ara Mātauranga. Our chosen theme is Kahungunu, with a central question guiding us: “How can I express myself?”This theme has provided rich opportunities for tamariki to explore their ideas through reading, writing, and oral language.
They have also been engaging with creative arts, te reo Māori, and local history to deepen their understanding. The progress and commitment our tamariki are demonstrating is a credit to their hard work and determination. They have earnt themselves a well deserved break so that we can kick start term 4 off with a hiss and soar! (Get it?) We look forward to continuing to share their achievements with whānau and our wider community and can't wait for our summer celebration evening happening in week 5! Mauri ora e te whānau.
We were lucky to be sent an invitation from Hawkes Bay Rugby and Tranzit to send a group of 15 students to run out with the team. We selected 15 students from our Barefoot 10’s team and they were super excited. They all received a t-shirt to wear and they were able to bring one adult with them. We selected to run out with the Magpies when they played Wellington last weekend. This was an amazing opportunity for our tamariki to meet some of their heroes, run across McLean Park and experience a professional rugby game.
The winter ills and chills are absolutely amoungst us. If your child is unwell, please keep them home and notify the office absentee answer phone: 878-8757 or txt in on the txt only cellphone: 027-351-9488. Please do this before 8.50am.
Keep them warm and give Pamol if feverish and plenty of fluids.

Please ensure ALL UNIFORM IS NAMED CORRECTLY.
With the cold weather PLEASE ensure your child is coming to school with their school jersey and appropriate footwear everyday.
If you are aware that we are still waiting on forms to be signed or any other documentation such as birth certificates and immunisations, please get these to the office ASAP. We are still waiting on some forms from 2024! Any borrowed uniform also needs to be returned.
