If you haven’t yet filled in our whānau survey we strongly encourage you to do so. The survey takes 2-3mins to complete. Whānau, staff and tamariki voice contribute towards the School Board strategic decisions and direction for our kura.
A notice went home in week one sharing information about this programme in our health and physical education programme. We deliver this programme every second year across all year levels. If you want to find out more about it, you can either contact your child's teacher or come along to the parent evening on Wednesday 5th November at 5:30pm.
If any whānau know that they are moving house or moving out of town and will not be attending Frimley School in 2026, please let the office know as soon as possible.
Our school wide PE focus this term is on Run, Jump, Throw, building up to our school athletics competitions and the Hastings interschools for years 3+. You will find the dates for the different Learning Community athletics days below.
On Friday 14th November we will hold a school mufti day to support the Nourish for Nil kaupapa “FOOD FOR GOOD”. Nourish for Nil has reached out to schools in Hastings, requesting support to collect non-perishable food items before the Christmas season. This sits within all our school values and is an important kaupapa for us to talk with our tamariki about. Thank you for supporting our community by supplying a non perishable food item on FRIDAY 14th NOVEMBER.
A reminder that terms 1 & 4 are sunhat terms. School hats are compulsory as part of the School Board Sunsmart policy and MUST be worn outside. If your child doesn’t have a sunhat these are available from the school office for $12 each. Please ensure they are named. Children without a sunhat will need to play in the designated shade area - wāhi whakahaumaru ONLY. Thank you for your support.
Namaste/ Sat Shri Akaal - We warmly invite whānau to our Indian Fono (meeting) on Wednesday 12th of November at 5.30pm at school. This is a good time to come together and have a korero with us about our school, the curriculum and aspirations for your children. We look forward to working together with you. Tea and coffee and snacks will be provided. Your children are welcome to join or play outside on the playground.
Our HHOTK learning community had the pleasure of visiting Hongarea Marae last Tuesday. It was a special experience where we showed kaitiakitanga by caring for the environment and the marae grounds.
We worked hard weeding and re-barking the gardens, and cleaning the windows and carvings to help keep the marae looking beautiful. Alongside our mahi, we enjoyed a range of fun activities where our tamariki took part in games and learnt many stories and knowledge connected to the marae and its history. Even though we faced the wild winds of Tāwhirimātea, everyone showed great resilience and teamwork. It was a wonderful day of service, learning, and connection.
We felt proud to give back to a place that welcomes and teaches us so much. The tamariki showed respect, enthusiasm, and joy throughout the day. It was a memorable trip that strengthened our sense of whanaungatanga and belonging.
Your tamariki and their learning conditions are worth standing up for. We appreciate your support of the NZEI and PPTA national strike day last Thursday 22nd October.
If your child is unwell, please keep them home and notify the office absentee answer phone: 878-8757 or txt in on the txt only cellphone: 027-351-9488. Please do this before 8.50am.

Please remember to send a water bottle and a piece of fruit for brainfood with your child every single day.

This year's photos are scheduled for Tuesday 4th November. All children will be in class/space photos and have individual photos taken. If you would like a sibling photo, you need to complete the envelope and return to school. Further information has been sent home. If you have queries, please contact the school office.
As the days lengthen and become warmer, we begin to get our school pool ready for the new season. As you may have noticed, we have a new fence around our pool area. We hope to have a new shade over top in the near future. Hopefully we’ll be able to open the pool in mid November. Keep an eye out on your child’s classroom seesaw page.
The beginning of this process has started with all year 4 and 5 tamariki attending an assembly with Whaea Tania, Matua Luke and Mr Pearse to explain this process. A letter was sent home encouraging you as a whānau to sit and discuss the many opportunities that will be available with your child(ren). A written application is required for all positions. If you have any queries please contact Whaea Tania thenare@frimley.school.nz or call the school office. Thank you for supporting our tamariki to be the best they can be ~ Tū Ake Nei.
Thank you to whānau who have applied for an out of zone place in 2026. This is the first year in a number of years that we have more enrolments over places we have available for New Entrants. This is positive for our school and now means we go to a ballot for our Priority 6 applicants. Places are currently being offered to those in Priority 2-5 and we will progress the ballot as fast as we can so families know one way or the other. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
