Term Two

This term we will be integrating The Visual Arts and Oral Language programme. To facilitate this we are privileged to have Mr. Stuart Beachen, a Drama Specialist working with Room 16 for Four Weeks. He has introduced the children to performance skills, such as Voice projection, Articulation and Clarity of Speech, Body control and Movement, Importance of facial expressions and the value of Eye Communication. These wonderful practical skills will be utilised in:

A Court Room Drama, May 14th

Room 16 welcomes you to their school assembly where the children will be presenting a drama about “Rule Breaking.” The setting is the Court room and witnesses will be called to testify against people who have broken a school rule, a community By-law and an Environmental Law of the land . Come and hear the children  practise their voice projection skills (no microphones ) and  see their body and facial expressions.

Poetry A focus for Written Language will be Poetry. We are learning to ‘Appreciate Poetry as we listen to, read and write it.’ Some of our activities will include reading poems aloud, looking closely at their form and message, and the writing and publishing of poetry.

Listen to Abbey's poem. We are learning to read with expression. If you would like to hear more from Room 16, go to our Frimley Podbean page.

Speech Contest

Later on in the term the Senior School will be holding a Speech contest. The finalists from each of the Senior rooms will compete in the grand final to see who is the top speech maker. You will be notified of the grand final and invited along to hear our top speech makers in action.

The photos of the Room 16 finalists and their topics will be posted after the event.

Your blurb advertising the Courtroom Drama on environmental issues sounds really intriguing. I am looking forward to seeing the show!
