English Speakers of Other Languages (E.S.O.L.)

At Frimley School we have a number of children who speak a language other than English in their homes. These children come to school where the main language spoken is English.
The students work in small groups or individually with Mrs Kyle and Mrs Adams.  In their groups they work on learning to speak, read and write in English.

Research has shown that the most successful bilingual children are those who have two languages available in a rich form ..... a rich home language and a rich ‘outside home’ language.  When the home language is as rich as it can be, it then means that learning English outside the home is also easy and usually no problem for children. At school we try to make the learning of English as rich and fun experience as possible too.
