Camp Kaitawa

Monday

Afterhours of long driving we were finally there,

A weekat Camp Kaitawa for as much fun as we can bare.

Aroundthe Lake Kaitawa was our first adventure walk,

Wewould stop at cool things & hear Mr Dixon talk.

Walkingup the pipeline made us all out of breath,

Westood near paths edges where falling would mean death!

Afterthe sun set, finding Mr Dixon was our game,

Ourfirst day at camp proves this week will not be tame!

Tuesday

Walkingwas the theme for our second day of the week,

Upand down the paths until we reached the peak.

Wesaw many beautiful bush trees and even a water fall,

AtPapakorito water rushed over rocks so very tall.

Onceat Lake Waikareiti, we lunched, swam and then we had,

Amoment of silence for Christchurch because we were so sad.

Wesaw a giant rata tree that reached up towards the sky,

Itwas a fun but tiring day, I’m not even going to lie!

Wednesday

Todaywe walked through the big Onepoto cave,

Itwas muddy, dark and scary, but we stayed brave.

Nextswimming and kayaking around Lake Wherowhero so fast,

Wehad so much fun we wish forever it would last.

ToLou’s lookout we hiked in the dark, up a hill,

MissWhiting slipped and fell, but the top was a trill.

Wecouldn’t see much except the glowworm’s lights,

Overall, this was one of my favourite nights!

Thursday

Along walk up Panekiri Bluff with no energy to save,

Atthe bottom we stopped to see Michael Noonen’s grave.

Jade,Tia, Kate and Carl were all speedy kayak winners,

Thenwe went back to camp for another one of the dinners.

Weplayed ‘in the bag’ with prizes of lollies and bugs,

Nextwe got ready for bed and gave everyone hugs.

Wow!So many memories made, we had a great week,

Irecommend Camp Kaitawa if a good time you seek!
