Room 3 trip to Jessie's Farmlet Room 3 had a fantastic trip to the Watkin's farmlet to wrap up our Term 1 topic of discovering and interacting with the great outdoors.
TERM 2 This term, Room 3 have chosen animals as our class topic. Animals is a fantastic topic as it is very easy to integrate throughout all learning areas. The students have chosen their favourite animals and we are investigating 2 per week. In writing we will be learning how to write simple descriptions about the animals – using the information we have learnt about the animals and using our Kidpix pictures as motivators. So far we have 2 new books in our library, “Giraffe and Zebra Descriptions” and “Lion and Elephant Descriptions,” both written by the talented Year 0/1 students. The Kidpix pictures will also act as aides for oral language, where the students will be learning how to ask and answer questions – Guess my animal (10 yes or no questions), interview an animal (using who, what, when ,where, how). At the end of the term we are hoping to create our own Kidpix imaginary animals and use this a basis for writing, reading, oral language, art, dance…
