RECOUNT WRITING We have been learning lots of awesome tips for writing recounts.
When we write recounts we need to remember to... ü Start with an exciting hook in to make people excited about reading our story! ü Have an information sentence that includes: when,where, who, what and why! ü Use exciting openers like: next, soon, after, suddenly, later, immediately. ü Use our feelings and thoughts because WE ARE NOT ROBOTS! ü Use adjectives and similes.

Vroom! Vroom! We were off! It was a three hour drive. On Monday the family went to Waipukarau to go to a cool hut and have fun. We got into the hot car. “I wish it wasn’t a three hour drive!” I said angrily. “Well then off we go children!” Dad said. After we got there I went on the road for a bike around because there were no cars at all!! “Yah we can go inside!” I said excitedly. Suddenly I wentinside. A New PS2 Game! “Let’s go and play it!” Me and my brother went to the enormous warehouse to buy the game smack down Vs row 2010 and it was very fun. Suddenly my brother and I zoomed to my cool room to see if the game worked on the Ps2. “Yah! It works!” I yelled and I grabbed the black controller very fast. Just then I was playing the coolest game I’ve played yet. I was pushing buttons all the time so I could beat my brother. The next match was a real rumble and it was so fun because the person who you chose can do cool moves. Soon I felt real happy because I won. My brother said angrily, ”I knew I shouldn’t of let him win!” By Boston Walsh. My BMX Bike! Crash! “Ouch!” I said. Yesterday I went to Taupo to get a BMX for bike motor-cross extreme. My dad won it on trade me. When we went outside it was bitterly cold. The grass was shiny like metal. When we got in the car it was cold like ice. We had to wait two hours in the car. When me, Dad, Mum and Georgia eventually got there we had to find the house. We saw the shiny bike sitting there behind the scratched garage door. It looked as good as new but the sticker had faded a bit. It had phenomenal steering and outstanding braking. It was a black, well looked after, middle sized BMX! I love the BMX. It is just awesome!
